Throughout my film I plan on experimenting with lighting and how it can affect the mood. I chose to focus on lighting because lighting can affect the atmosphere and it tells the audience where to look. I plan on focusing on three types of lighting. key lighting, practical lighting, and side lighting. 

 Key Lighting

Key lighting is a primary lighting source that is used in main scenes. Key lighting most be placed near the camera or the object that is being illuminated will become flat and featureless. This lighting is also used to the three point lighting. An example of key lighting in in the movie Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings they use key point to light up Frodo face. 

Practical Lighting 

Practical lighting is used when the light sources come from in the specific location. For instance objects like lamps, televisions, candles, and ceiling lights will be used. These lights are usually used to brighten the actors  faces or other objects within the scene. An example of practical lighting is in season of Stranger Things, episode 3 when Joyce talks to Will. 

Side Lighting 

Side lighting is used to highlight the sides of the actors face. Side lighting is often used to provide drama to the scene. Too use side lighting you have to use high contrast. For example in this scene from the movie Shutter Island to add to its affect.
